Advanced Diploma of Dental Prosthetics

This qualification covers assessing, treating and managing people who need removable dentures, and making flexible mouthguards for sport. It includes dental prosthetic examinations and treatment planning, taking impressions, recording jaw relationships, fitting and maintaining removable dentures, implant retained overdentures and oral hygiene programs. Dental technicians with denture work experience may be able to have their skills recognised through RPL.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To gain entry into HLT65015 Advanced Diploma of Dental Prosthetics a candidate must hold the HLT55115 Diploma of Dental Technology or the HLT55118 Diploma of Dental Technology.

HLT60412 Advanced Diploma of Dental Prosthetics (not equivalent)

WHO IT'S FOR

Dental technicians who already hold the HLT55115 or HLT55118 Diploma of Dental Technology, which is required for entry. RPL is not registration as a dental prosthetist; that is decided by the Dental Board of Australia.

Qualification structure

12 units in total. 1 elective unit from the electives listed below or from any other endorsed Training Package or accredited course – this unit must be relevant to the work outcome. Elective chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

LICENSING

A graduate holding an Advanced Diploma of Dental Prosthetics approved by the Dental Board of Australia is able to apply for registration with the Dental Board of Australia. Further information on registration is available at www.dentalboard.gov.au RPL towards this qualification is not registration as a dental prosthetist. Registration is decided by the Dental Board of Australia.
