Privacy Policy.
Last updated: 14 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how RPLDirect handles your personal information when you use our website, our free skills check and your RPLDirect account. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Who we are
RPLDirect is operated by Talynx ("we", "us", "our"). We provide information about Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), eligibility checks and support services for people who want their skills and experience recognised.
We are not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). We do not assess competency and we do not issue qualifications. Qualifications are assessed and issued only by Registered Training Organisations.
You can contact us about privacy at any time:
- Email: apply@rpldirect.com.au
- Phone or WhatsApp: +61 452 255 451
- Post: 45A Mandoon Rd, Girraween NSW 2145, Australia
What personal information we collect
When you use the skills check
- your name, email address and phone or WhatsApp number
- the country you live in and how you prefer us to contact you
- your trade or job title, your years of experience and where you gained it (in Australia, overseas or both)
- the industry and qualification you are interested in
- anything you write in a message to us
- the page you sent the form from
The website no longer has a contact form. Messages sent through the contact form it had until October 2026 (name, email address, phone number if given, and the message) remain stored and are used to reply to you.
When you create an account
- your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google
- the details you add under My details (name, phone, WhatsApp, country, preferred contact method, trade, years of experience and where you gained it)
- the qualifications you save, whether you have submitted them for review, their status (for example Under review or Accepted) and any notes our team adds for you
Technical information
- Your IP address is used to stop spam and repeated form submissions. We store it only as a one-way, salted hash, so the address itself cannot be read back.
- Basic device and browser information and the pages you request, which our hosting provider records in its server logs for security and to keep the website working.
- Security checks by Google reCAPTCHA (through Firebase App Check) when you use a form, sign in or use your account, to confirm the request comes from a real person and a genuine browser.
- How the website is used: which pages are viewed, how far a page is scrolled, which buttons and links are clicked, and the device, browser and country of a visit. This is collected by Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity (see "Cookies and similar technologies" below).
What we do not collect online
- We do not take payments on this website and we do not collect card or bank details online.
- You cannot upload documents on this website at the moment. Please do not send identity documents or evidence unless our team asks you to and explains how to send them safely.
We try to collect only what we need. If you do not give us some information, we may not be able to check your eligibility or help you.
Why we collect and use it
We use your personal information to:
- check whether your experience may match an Australian qualification
- contact you about your enquiry by phone, WhatsApp or email
- manage your enquiry and your account, including the qualifications you save and submit
- arrange an assessment with a Registered Training Organisation, if you ask us to
- answer your questions and handle complaints
- keep the website secure and prevent spam, fraud and misuse
- understand what people need and improve our website and services
- meet our legal obligations
We will only use your information for another purpose if you agree, or if the law allows or requires it.
Who we share it with
- Registered Training Organisations. Only with your consent, and only what is needed to arrange an assessment of your skills and experience.
- Service providers who help us run the website, mainly Google Cloud and Firebase (hosting, database, sign-in and security checks). Our database and files are stored in Google's Sydney region (australia-southeast1).
- Analytics providers. Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) and Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation) receive information about how the website is used, as described under "Cookies and similar technologies" below. We do not send your name, email address or the content of your forms to either service.
- Others when the law requires it, for example to respond to a lawful request from a government authority, or to protect someone's safety.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers may process or store limited information outside Australia. In particular, Google may process sign-in information (Firebase Authentication), reCAPTCHA security checks and website delivery data in other countries, including the United States. Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity may also process information about how the website is used in other countries, including the United States. Google and Microsoft provide these services under their own privacy and security commitments. By using the website, you agree that this may happen. We take reasonable steps to make sure our providers protect your information.
If a Registered Training Organisation you choose is located overseas, we will tell you before we share anything with it.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for two things: to understand how visitors use the website, and to make it work and stay secure. We do not show advertising on this website.
Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) and Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation) to understand how visitors use it: which pages are viewed, how far a page is scrolled, which buttons and links are clicked, and the device, browser and country of a visit. Both services use cookies and similar technologies.
- Microsoft Clarity also records clicks, scrolling and mouse movement as heatmaps and session replays. Text typed into form fields is masked.
- Microsoft may also use this data for advertising, as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- We do not send your name, email address or the content of your forms to either service.
- Advertising features of Google Analytics are switched off.
The analytics cookies are:
- _ga and _ga_NJ8WML0X9S (Google Analytics): kept for up to 2 years
- _clck (Microsoft Clarity): kept for 1 year
- _clsk (Microsoft Clarity): kept for 1 day
- CLID and MUID (Microsoft): kept for 1 year
More information: Google's Privacy Policy, the Google Analytics opt-out add-on and the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
What the website needs to work and stay secure
- Sign-in and security. When you sign in, your browser keeps your sign-in session, and the email address you used for an emailed sign-in link, in its local storage. The website also remembers whether you have an account (to show "My account" in the menu) and, for up to 24 hours, the enquiry you are linking to a new account.
- Your answers. After you send the skills check, your answers are kept in your browser for that visit only, so we can show them back to you on the thank-you page.
- Google reCAPTCHA may set cookies and collect device and browser information to tell people and bots apart. This is covered by Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
- Embedded content. Our contact page shows a Google Map, which may set Google cookies. Videos use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and only load from YouTube after you press play.
You can clear or block cookies and site data in your browser settings. Some parts of the website, such as signing in, may not work without them.
Direct marketing
We will only send you marketing messages, such as news about new qualifications or services, if you have agreed to receive them. Every marketing message will tell you how to opt out, and you can opt out at any time by replying "stop" or contacting us using the details above. We will still contact you about an enquiry or account you have with us.
How we protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. These include:
- encrypted connections (HTTPS) for the whole website
- access to enquiries and accounts limited to our authorised team members, who must sign in
- security rules that stop anyone else from reading our database
- spam and bot protection on forms and sign-in
- regular backups
No method of storing or sending information online is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee security.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as long as the law requires. When we no longer need it, we delete it or remove the details that identify you. Deleted information may stay in our backups for up to 7 days before it is removed from them too.
Your account, your data
If you have an account, you can do these yourself at any time under My account → Your data:
- Download my data gives you a copy of your account details, your saved qualifications and your enquiries.
- Delete my account deletes your account and saved qualifications straight away and removes your name and contact details from your enquiries.
You can also ask us to delete your information by contacting us.
Access and correction
You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong, out of date or incomplete. You can update most account details yourself under My details. For other requests, contact us using the details above. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within 30 days. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why in writing and how you can complain.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first using the details above and tell us what happened. We will acknowledge your complaint, look into it and respond in writing within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
- Website: oaic.gov.au
- Phone: 1300 363 992
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when our services or the law change. The new version will be published on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If a change significantly affects how we use information you have already given us, we will let you know.
