Certificate III in Engineering - Patternmaking Trade
This trade qualification covers patternmaking for engineering and manufacturing, including woodworking machines, polymer and polystyrene patterns and reading technical drawings. Patternmakers build full-size models, often from timber, and also make visual, test and prototype models. If you already do this work, your experience may be recognised through RPL.

Qualification structure
To be awarded MEM31622 Certificate III in Engineering - Patternmaking Trade, units of competency to the value of 108 points must be achieved, chosen as outlined below: All core units of competency listed below (totalling 57 points). Units to a minimum value of 40 points from Group A electives as described below. Units to a maximum value of 11 points may be taken from Group B electives to bring the total value to at least 108 points Appropriate Group B elective units to the value of 8 points may be chosen from other MEM qualifications and other endorsed Training Packages and accredited courses where those units are available for inclusion at Certificate III. Only select units that would be suitable for occupational outcomes in a patternmaking trade environment. Determination of points requests are to be submitted to the industry parties through Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA) Manufacturing. Refer to the MEM Companion Volume Implementation Guide for information on determination of unit point values. No other descriptor can be used.
